What is Vibration Training
Vibration Training is the act of passing vibrations of a particular frequency through the body to elicit a series of unique muscular responses. By affecting the deep muscles of the body, particularly those that attach to the spine, Vibration Training has proven to have a very positive effect on muscular injuries, muscular strength, joint mobility, weight loss, injury recovery and injury prevention.
The nature of the contractions effects the muscles in a very specific way; working the whole body as 1 unit rather than working specific body parts. This type of wholistic training is a revolution in fitness and will change the way you currently workout.
The Technical Reponses of Vibration Training
- Activation of both voluntary & involuntary muscles
- Increased blood flow & removal of toxins to injured areas
- Automatic rebalancing of weak muscles
- Activation of up to 100% muscle fibre.
Currently, vibrations can be generated and passed through the body via two methods:
1.Hand Held Oscillating Device: Products such as the FLEXI-BAR® fall into this category. One of the major benefits of this type of device is that you are the power source. This means that you and your body are in complete control, so if at any time the body decides it is not happy, the device will stop automatically. Nothing you can do will make it continue vibrating. FLEXI-BAR® is also designed to vibrate at a slightly lower frequency, so that most people can use it and still gain the benefits of vibration training.
2. Vibration Plates: Powered by an external source (electricity) these devices were first used in the Russian Space programme to help maintain cosmonauts' muscular strength and bone density during long periods in space. The vibrations are passed through the feet into the body via a plate that typically vibrates. Whilst these machines are a great source of vibration training they have some limitations. There is a limit on the amount of exercises you can do and the body parts you can target.
The vibrations from machines can be agressive and not all users find this a comfortable way to exercise. However, if you do choose a vibrating machine, make sure you purchase a good quality version. These will give you the best results. Good quality machines start at £2000.00 and up. If the machine you're considering is around £200.00, reconsider your purchase and either wait until you can afford it, or purchase a FLEXI-BAR® for half the price!
The Russian and American space agencies began using vibration technology in the 1960's.
